Happy New Year!

A New Year is upon us. :-) It is a time to rejoice and be grateful for the small things in life- for family and dear friends (furry and human) . It is a time for new beginnings and a time to remember God's promise to us all :-)

I have taken some time off to be with my family over the Holidays so I haven't posted any of the wonderful cards you have emailed to me. Problems becoming a follower?

"I have been trying to become a follower several times, but can not see your followers at all and can't seem to get on. Don't know what is wrong?"

Bigsby's Christmas Wish

Twas the Night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

Bigsby and the Cookies was the first image I drew when we launched Karen's Doodles so it is only fitting that he is my last Christmas image for this Year. :-) I hope you enjoy him!

Baby's First Taste of Snow

By request, a baby's First taste of Snow. :-) If you purchase either of the "Snow Tasting" images, I will send two versions - one with my hand drawn chubby snowflakes and another version without any snowflakes. That way you could add your own embellishments for the snowflakes.

Hi everyone and Happy Wednesday! My new image for the day will be a fun one to color, don't you think? This is from my new series of images - Emma and Elliot Bears. Keep coming back for more new drawings of these little cuties!

 For all of you Ladies who have left your darling kiddos in the hands of Hubbie while you attended a Stamp Camp, a Scrapaway or a convention, I drew this one for you! :-)

Mermaid

Today I am posting a Mermaid image I drew. She is very fun to color as you will see below :-)
I like to color my images with either colored pencils or water color pencils. For this image I used Prisma Color pencils because of the wide variety of colors available.

I usually start with the lightest colors and then add darker colors for the shadows and details.

To get a watercolor look to my drawing, I dipped a Blending stump into Mineral Spirits and "blended" the colors together. As you know, you can't use water on a digital stamp because the black ink will smear. This is a wonderful solution to artists like me who like to create Digital images but like the look of traditional watercolor painting.
